Frequently asked questions
🚗 Where Can we park our car?
Hallstatt’s old town is car-free. Like many houses in Hallstatt, our house is not accessible by car. You’ll need to park outside the center and walk.
Official Parking Options:
P1 – Salinenplatz 4, 4830 Hallstatt
P2 – Kohlstattweg, 4830 Hallstatt
🗺 Find the official map and parking details here:

We recommend:
P1 is about 7 min walk to the house.
If you prefer using the official hotel shuttle. Ring the bell at parking P1 for shuttle pickup.
🚶 Note: The shuttle drops you near the town entrance – cars cannot drive to our house, so a short walk of 3 min remains.P2 is also about 7 minutes walk to the house. No shuttle from there.
🏃 How do we get to the house?
🚗 Arriving by Car / Parking
After parking your car, take your (hopefully light!) luggage and walk into the town center.
Enter through the main town gate (stone archway).
Take the first possible left onto Dr. Morton Weg, a narrow path leading uphill.
Walk up the path and look for a small fountain on your left.
When you reach the fountain, look up – you’ll see our house just above.
Continue walking a few more meters, then take the stairs on the left.
At the top of the stairs, go through the garden gate to reach the front door.

🛥 Arriving by Train & Boat
Disembark from the train on the opposite side of Hallstatt Lake.
Your train ticket includes a scenic boat ride across the lake—hop on and enjoy the views!
The boat docks at Hallstatt’s “Markt” landing near the town center.
From the dock:
Head towards town.
Use Google Maps to guide you to Hallberg 8—it’s in the second row of houses, uphill from the water’s edge.
Enter through the garden gate to reach the front door.
📸 We will include step-by-step photos in your booking confirmation to help guide you.
🔑 How do we get the key? (Self Check-In)
Check-in is self-service.
You will receive the key box code at 3:00 PM on your arrival day via the same platform you booked through.
Follow the photo instructions provided to locate the key box.
🕰️ Can we check in early or check out late?
Early check-in or late check-out is possible upon request, but we can only confirm one day before your arrival or departure.
This depends on:
the departure or arrival time of other guests
and our cleaning team’s schedule.
We appreciate your understanding!
🎒 Can we leave our luggage at the house before check-in or after check-out?
If the house is not yet ready when you arrive — or needs to be cleared after check-out — you’re welcome to leave your luggage in the front yard, under the roof near the front door.
Hallstatt is a very safe village – we’ve never had any luggage go missing.
💶 Do minors have to pay the tourist tax?
The Hallstatt local tourism tax applies to all guests aged 15 and above.
➡️ If your child is under 15, no tax is required.
➡️ Guests aged 15 and older must pay €3.00 per night, in cash upon departure.
