Alex spent almost every free minute of his childhood and youth in Hallstatt, the town where his father comes from and where the family owned a wonderful family home right on the lake. Even though he was a city boy, being raised in the city of Linz, he always knew that one day he wanted to own his own house in this magic town, which still plays such an important role in his family’s history. Even before he met Carolin, he had already made his plans to get married in the beautiful Catholic church in Hallstatt. He was most proud taking his German then-girlfriend to Hallstatt in 2003 for the first time. He showed her around and introduced her to some of the most important places from his childhood. Alex and Carolin got married 2006 in Hallstatt and found their dream vacation home 2007 - Alex’s dream come true. They were able to renovate the house just before their first daughter was born in 2008. By now they have two sweet girls and the family continues to enjoy happy weekends and summers in Hallstatt, just like Alex did when he was a child. With the girls getting older and their hobbies in Linz occupying more of their time, as well as Carolin’s weekends working as a wedding photographer, the family felt that the house was left alone way too much. After trying out home exchanges with the house, which took the family to other beautiful houses around the world, they had the idea was to share the house with travelers, so they can also enjoy its beauty and its magnificent view of the lake. In 2019, the Hallstatt Lakeview House got its official name began hosting guests from all over the world. Carolin and Alex their experience as hosts, getting to know people from all over the world and giving them the opportunity to live like a local in Hallstatt.
